KAPro
Suite Quick Tour
The following brief tour includes a series of screen shots
from each of the KAPro program components:
KAVideo - Video capture, processing, digitizing and file
maintenance
KA2D - Analysis of two dimensional kinematic (linear, angular and
joint angle) data
KA3D - Analysis of three dimensional kinematic (linear, angular and
joint angle) data
JtCalc (Joint Torque Calculation) - Analysis of GRF and ankle, knee
and hip joint torques in running, jumping and leaping motions
Hydrodynamic Analysis (HA) - Analysis of swimming arm stroke
propulsion
Ball Flight - Analysis of projectile motions
VecCalc - Vector algebra calculation software (with ties to the
KA3D software)
If you are viewing this tour on a small monitor in 640x480 mode please
maximize your browser's window (you may still need to scroll vertically
and horizontally to see some of our full screen graphics).
KAVideo Main Menu
The KAVideo Menu is used to capture process and digitize
information from AVI format video files:

The KAVidCap program captures DV video via the PC's
firewire port. The Process option allows students to download image sets
to a CD-R disk for use on their home PCs. The DG and ReDG are used to set
the XY coordinate values of the body landmarks in your projects.
KA2D Programs
The KA2D program allows you to inspect video, stick
figure and kinematic data from your own research or from image sets in the
SFSU Movement Library:

When a mouse button is pressed, the video image, stick
figure and kinematic data plot values are animated. Playback speed is
nearly 100% of real time on a Pentium IV PC. The Point, Segment and Joint
command buttons allow you to inspect dozens of kinematic variables from
your project.
KA
KA3D Programs
The KA3D program allows you to inspect video, stick
figure and kinematic data in a 9 viewport full screen window:

The normal, single file viewing mode shows the front and
side view video images, researcher and subject information, front, side
and overhead stick figure views, XYZ coordinate data, and velocity and
acceleration function plots. Any point, segment or joint variable may be
selected for display. The KA3D and KA2D programs also allows you to
inspect your data in side by side, file compare mode:

Kinematic data for any point, segment, or joint in your
project can be selected for display through pull down menu and hot key
options. See the KAVideo and KA3D tour for more details on the modules in
these parts of the KAVideo Suite.
JtCalc
The Joint Torque Calculation software
displays the ground reaction forces and leg joint torques for running,
jumping and leaping projects. Ground reaction force values are read from
force plate data files or are computed from CG acceleration data. Eligible
files are prepared through the KA2D MakeJTD option.

The 3Free body diagram format is shown above. Other
program window configurations show the joint torque, joint angle rate of
change and joint muscle power for an individual joint. The software also
displays the data for two trials in side by side file compare mode.
Hydrodynamic Analysis
The Hydrodynamic Analysis (HA) software
displays swimming arm pull hand propulsive force measures:

The figure above shows the video images and
3 wire frame diagrams for the arm pull (front view, side view and bottom
view). The hand force lift, drag and resultant force components are shown
in each wire frame diagram. The hand resultant and effective resultant
force components are plotted as a function of time in the lower right
corner viewport. The software can also show the data for two trials in
side by side, file compare mode.
BallFlight
The BallFlight software displays projectile
motion for as many as 5 projectiles. The projection angles and initial
velocity are user selectable.

VecCalc
The VecCalc software is a spreadsheet-like program for
use in the calculation of a variety of vector algebra operations.
Data can be entered directly into VecCalc from the keyboard or imported
(through a wizard-like operation) from KA3D.
